Maritana spotlights Burbanks for ‘outstanding’ gold in drilling

Maritana Minerals (ASX:MRT) has completed phase one of drilling at its Burbanks Gold Project in the Western Australian Goldfields, returning ‘outstanding’ gold intercepts.

Highlights from this campaign include 4.2m @ 42.43 grams per tonne gold from 289.63m, including 1.37m @ 126.93g/t gold from 290.84m; 0.30m @ 54.02g/t gold from 207.41m; and 0.63m @ 24.32g/t gold from 460.37m, including 0.30m @ 40.95g/t gold from 460.37m.

Phase one drilling was intended to improve geological confidence in the Burbank North Open Pit and the Burbanks Underground. The open pit is currently included in the life-of-mine plan, while Burbanks Underground is not.

Historical underground mining at Burbanks produced 324,000 ounces @ 22.7g/t gold.

The project currently hosts a resource estimate of 6.1 million tonnes @ 2.4g/t gold for 466,000 ounces.

CEO Grant Haywood says the latest batch of assays from the Burbanks Project demonstrates the “consistent high-grade mineralisation and improved geological confidence”.

“The ongoing success of the drilling program continues to de-risk the project, as we progress Burbanks towards becoming a reliable source of feed for Maritana’s 100%-owned Black Swan Processing Hub,” Haywood says.

The phase one resource definition campaign at the Burbanks Project saw Maritana complete drilling of 53 holes for 15,798m.

The company has received all assay results except the final four holes, with the campaign focused on Burbanks North, targeting infill within the existing resource and extensional mineralisation.

Maritana also initiated exploration in the southern portion of the project area to test down-dip continuity of shallow gold mineralisation.

Maritana Minerals is focused on becoming the next gold producer via its portfolio of assets located in Australia.

The company was formerly known as Horizon Minerals before undergoing a name change to Maritana as of 13 April 2026, as reported by Mining.com.au.
