Maritana Minerals appoints Liz Jones COO to drive gold production transition
Maritana Minerals (ASX:MRT) has appointed Elizabeth “Liz” Jones as Chief Operating Officer effective 26 August 2026, a transformational role as the company transitions to a standalone gold producer.
Jones brings over 30 years’ experience in both underground and open pit mining operations, with a focus on project delivery, technical services, optimisation, and safety.
Jones has most recently been General Manager of Ramelius Resources’ (ASX:RMS) Mt Magnet Gold Operations, overseeing the reestablishment of underground mining operations as well as the expansion of the open pit operations at Cosmos and Cue.
She also oversaw the establishment of Mount Magnet as a key regional processing hub.
Managing Director and CEO Grant Haywood says that Maritana is excited to welcome Jones to the team.
“As a values-driven leader, she brings extensive operational expertise and a proven track record in delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations,” Haywood says.
“This relevant leadership experience will be invaluable as we advance the company’s development and production plans around the Black Swan Processing Hub in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.”
Maritana is now focused on the refurbishment and repurposing of the Black Swan Processing Hub as gold processing infrastructure, with the ability to process ore from multiple mines in the Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie regions.
Maritana Minerals is an emerging mid-tier gold producer with a goal of becoming Australia’s next standalone gold producer in the Western Australian Goldfields.
