Maritana pushes mineral resource above 2Moz

Maritana Minerals has added 290,000 ounces (oz) of gold to its Burbanks gold project, taking the Western Australian operation to 755,000oz and pushing the company’s total mineral resource above 2 million ounces (Moz).

The updated MRE stands at 13.7 million tonnes at 1.7 grams per tonne gold (g/t) for 755,000oz, up from 6.1Mt at 2.4g/t for 466,000oz previously reported. The resource update follows Maritana’s Phase 1 drilling program, which comprised 53 diamond holes for 15,798m, as well as drilling at Burbanks North.

Maritana managing director and CEO Grant Haywood said the company has increased its contained gold by 62 per cent.

“The growth has come almost entirely from the Burbanks North area, with many other key high-grade areas remaining open and offering further upside,” Haywood said.

The project’s open pit resource increased by 198,000oz, or 67 per cent, to 10.6Mt at 1.45g/t Au for 496,000oz.

Its underground resource grew by 91,000oz, or 54 per cent, to 3.1Mt at 2.63g/t Au for 259,000oz.

At Burbanks North, the combined open pit and underground resource has increased to 11.1Mt at 1.47g/t Au for 523,000oz, compared with 3.7Mt at 2.06g/t Au for 243,000oz previously.

The Indicated component of the overall Burbanks resource has also increased to 29 per cent.

Maritana said mineralisation has now been defined to approximately 450m below surface at the Main Lode and Birthday Gift areas, with the mineralisation remaining open at depth and along strike.

The Burbanks Open Pit currently contributes 128,800oz of recovered gold to the life-of-mine plan for Maritana’s Black Swan Processing Hub.

Burbanks Underground is not currently included in the life-of-mine plan, with the company identifying the project as having the highest current potential for extending the hub’s operating life.

Maritana has also completed its Phase 2 drilling program, with results from the first 11 of 20 holes reported and remaining results expected shortly.

These results will be incorporated into a further MRE update in the first quarter of 2027.
